CMPIC R6.10.2 Released

Initially designated as a medium-sized interim release, many of the changes in CMPIC R6.10.2 impacted on a large section of CMPIC functionality. This also permitted a greater number of minor additions and rationalisation of functionality to occur.

Look and Feel

Continuing on from the changes begun in the previous releases, more adjustments were introduced to further simplify and sharpen the user experience. For multi-build projects, the applicability icons were revised to be more readable, and to reflect “actual” build numbering, useful when projects represent batches of similar build items.

Enhanced Device-to-Device Routing

New functionality where device and node coordinates are used to select the most appropriate device near-nodes and cable from/to nodes. Off route lengths can be set using coordinates as a straight line or offset length.

CMPIC R6.10 Released

The release of CMPIC R6.10 (and R6.10.1) introduces a number of enhancements:

Look and Feel

The overall design of CMPIC has been adjusted to make use of fonts, colours and layouts that are more in keeping with GUIs in common use, and providing a more streamlined user experience, whilst taking care not to impact too directly on current users. A small sub-set of screens were affected in these releases, mainly to cater for UOM changes (see below).

Units of Measure & Tokens

Units of measure (UOM) are important to retain consistency within CMPIC. Where a value does not inherently indicate a UOM, this is now shown as part of the boilerplate text, leaving no room for doubt. Projects are now designated as Metric or Imperial, and UOM values are indicated suitably. This is all managed in collaboration with Tokens, to ensure flexibility.

Multi-Tier Segments

The introduction of multi-tier segments permit a greater management of cable routing, without extra workload for the user.

Flexible Work Packages

We have added extra flexibility to our Production module to permit cables to be grouped in Work Packages using a greater number of criteria. This also permits greater complexity of grouping, where needed.

CMPIC R6.09 Released

The release of CMPIC R6.09 introduces a number of enhancements:

Equipment Schedule

The Equipment Schedule now allows for data to be filtered based on usage criteria. Additionally, it now permits output to CSV file for all equipment types. To further complement these enhancements, a new Equipment Quantities report has been introduced.

Data Import

The Data Import Wizard now provides a preview option, to allow the potential results of a data load to be analyzed before attempting an actual load. Additionally, device near nodes may also be loaded with device data.

Routing

Cable routes may now be defined between two areas, rather than specific node points; a cable route is then considered complete once a contiguous route is achieved between two areas.
Areas may now be frozen to prevent design changes being made on existing cables.
Cable routes may now be deleted in batch (subject to usual rules).
Cables routed via the autorouter mechanism may now be accepted, rejected or re-submitted in batch.
A new fill calculation method has been introduced to cater for cables run as bundles. Fill calculations have also been extended to cater for double-width trays, as well as providing the facility to define oval/ellipse ducts and conduits when calculating fill.
A new Cable Weight by Area report provides the facility to report on the weight of cables per-area.
